Would you like to go on more backpacking trips? And meet other women in the area who are into (or would like to get into) backpacking? You've come to the right place. We're just getting started, so the calendar might look a little bare. Keep checking back -- there's been a lot of interest in the group and we're working on posting more trips at various levels. If you're interested in adding a trip to the calendar, let me know and I'll make you an organizer. If there's a trip you'd love to do but …
This is a group for anyone with an interest in backpacking and those who are strong hikers but have never backpacked before are most welcome. Whether you have backpacked all over the world or not at all (but cannot wait to get started), this is the group for you! Please read the about page before joining this group.
This group is intended to be an open network of mostly experienced backpackers, of the boomer age (you can use your own definition, but 45 to 60 plus or minus is my concept). Generally trips should be moderately paced, 6 to 8 miles a day, up to 1500 feet of gain. Everyone in the group is welcome to organize a trip, and the settings for the group allow anyone to do that. So, if you have a trailhead reservation and want some companions, feel free to post a trip. A few suggested groundrules. Fi …

So if you want to meet other outdoors enthusiasts, whether you're a hardcore hiker or an aspiring novice, sign up. To connect with other members make sure to c …

This is low pressure discussion based group, meaning the intent is chill and easy going, collaborative and will grow organically. “Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in forgetfulness of all ill.”
~John Muir

While we love our men and our guy friends, experiencing the outdoors with a group of women is a different game. When it comes to the outdoors, we believe in equity, not necessarily equality. (Don't understand what we mean by that statement? Come check us out and you'll discover the true meaning!) We believe in physical strength, but also the inner strength of great women. We believe in a caring and nurturing community, where all women are free to be themselves - safe to admit their weaknesses, s …

These mission-to-mission walks are open to all who enjoy nature, art, history. And walking. Though many of the walks are between 16-22 miles, they're set at a reasonable pace and are easy to train for. Why'd You Start the Group? Long story short: In March 2011 I walked 330 miles of the Camino de Santiago, a 1,200 year-old pilgrimage route in Spain. I lived with very little for 3 weeks. I experienced nature, art, and history. I met people from all around the world on the same simple quest - to …

Yosemite Campsite Share Getting camp sites in Yosemite is hard. So hard. So hard that you have to book 6 months in advance. And you have to do it right at 7:00am on the dot. At 7:01 sites are gone. And guess what, that sucks to do on a Sunday morning....... with a hangover. Yeah, that was my last Sunday. But Yosemite it where the good climbing is and dammit I'm going (and you can come to). So this group is about helping more people camp in Yosemite. How? Well sites allow up to 6 people, and you …
Let's hike all of the great parks and open space preserves in the bay area. I love to hike in the early mornings when it's cool and maybe even foggy. And to get back and have the whole rest of the day ahead of me. I've looked for like-minded people who want to challenge themselves in the early mornings everywhere and am hoping that I will finally find them with this group. I plan to organize two hikes every week, one on Sunday and one on a weekday. We will focus on the south bay and the peninsul …
