Welcome, Backpackers!

A place for L.A. area backpackers to come together for weekend backpacking trips in the surrounding areas and longer excursions outside the Los Angeles area. For general day hikes, please see the L.A. Hiking Club or Orange County Hiking & Backpacking Club.

The group hosts at least one backpacking trip per month, spring through fall.

Open to backpackers of all ability levels. If you are new to the sport, please read the "New to backpacking?" thread on our message board. It contains a lot of information on getting started.

A PHOTO IS REQUIRED FOR MEMBERSHIP: NO APPROVAL WITHOUT ONE. We aren't concerned about your looks as much as we are about our safety. Deleting the photo once approved will prevent you from being able to RSVP for events.

When a trip is FULL, it is closed so that only an Organizer can add wait-listed members in the order of their requests. Put "waitlist #___" in your "No" RSVP if you want to be added to the event if spots become available. If your schedule doesn't allow for the overnight trip, you're welcome do the event as a day hike so that you have the opportunity to meet other members.
