This is a FUN easy day hike about 10 miles that will follow the River Walk Park in Chattanooga along the Tennessee River. We did this before and it was a blast!

We'll park our cars at the Rowing Center parking lot. Parking is free there. We'll then shuttle everyone to the Dam and start our hike to Downtown where we'll stop for pizza and refreshments. Bring your good walking shoes and some refreshment money. The trail is paved, flat, and gorgeous.

More info and details to come.

A little change in forcast: Partly cloudy, high near 66 and 20 percent chance rain. I'm sure it'll change a few more time before the hike.

The weather is looking great for us so far: Partly sunny with a high around 68 and only 10 percent chance rain (which means no rain)

No problem. I don't like that feature either.

Bobby and Ellis - I messed around a bit with the settings for this trip to squeeze in as a Yes with one guest (I had to increase the max number to 13). It does not really makes sense that Maybes take space out of total number of participants allowed on a trip...

I do this walk at least once a year and enjoy it every time. Riverside, woods, boardwalk over marsh and the arts district downtown with a good sculpture garden make it varied and interesting.

    •  It was a fun time!

    •  Thanks to Wild Bill and Cynthia for driving! We met LazyBoy and his friend Dave at the Rowing center. He shuttled us to the Dam in his urban assault vehicle (Caprice station wagon) which we easily fit nine people in. This urban day hike on a paved flat trail is out of character of what we do here at the Atlanta Wilderness Backpackers, but I've got to tell you, I think I saw more wildlife then many of the wilderness trips I've done. We saw some gorgeous Blue Herons, pair of geese with their goslings, a wild mallard duck with all the colors, and even a wild Bill. We got to downtown Chattanooga just in time before the group started to mutiny on me... they were hungry! We had some pizza and beer at Lupis and really enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards, we hike across the Tennessee River on this awesome pedestrian bridge where we had ice cream and shopped at Rock Creek outfitters. Wild said we all have GAS...Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Yes, we need help!
    •  I had fun and enjoyed checking out Chattanooga for the first time. The riverside trail was impressive, and the company and food were great too.
    •  Great views and company!
