October Moon - Standing Indian - 15 mile Loop

Will be camping Friday night at the old girl scout camp, base of the Deep Gap Trail. The parking lot is at the end of the FS road that goes through Tate City and dead ends in NC.

In the morning we will hike up the chimney Rock Trail to Case Knife Gap. Fill up on water at the spring, eat lunch then hoof it up the Standing Indian Connector Trail which is an extremely steep trail. At the top we will turn left and head SB on the AT to the top of Standing Indian where we will all meet up. The Standing Indian Connector trail is no longer blazed nor is it mentioned in any of the newer guide books that I know of.

Next day we will continue SB on the AT to Deep Gap where we will head down the Deep Gap Trail back to the parking lot. The Deep Gap trail is every bit as steep as the Standing Indian Connector Trail only you are going down hill.
