Wilderness Advance First Aid Course
The New York Back Packing Club will be hosting a two day Wilderness First Aid Course. After successful completion of course a nationally recognized certification is issued. Students will be sleep in cabins or tents at the Education Through Adventure Leadership Camp located in Harriman State Park. The course will begin at 11:30am on Saturday and end at 5:00pm on Sunday.

Students taking the Metro North train from New York City should plan on being on the 9:14am train from Penn Station, arriving in the Harriman at 10:17am, a shuttle will be at the train stop waiting for you. The train to Harriman departs at 9:14am from Penn Station. You should board the NE corridor train. You will see it displayed on the big board as the 9:14 train. Plan to arrive by 9am so that you have plenty of time to buy your ticket and find the train. We will meet on the first car of the train. If you don't know which one is the first car, ask the conductor on the train. To get to Harriman you must transfer at Secaucus-Junction which is the next stop after Penn Station and board the Port Jervis bound train. For those driving, please meet us at the camp between 9:00am and 10:00am at the camp. The camp is located in Harriman State Park off of route 6.
From route 6 going east: we are just past route 293 just after you enter the park you will drive over a low lake bridge that will cut through Lake Teatta, the camp road will be on the other side of the lake up the first road. Drive down the road until you see the Education Through Adventure Leadership camp sign and entrance.
From Palisades Parkway: Take the Palisades Parkway to the Long Mountain Circle. Go around the circle to Route 6 west, take this past the Long Path Hiker parking lot. Just before the Lake Teatta Bridge you will see a road on your left. Drive down the road until you see the Education Through Adventure Leadership camp sign and entrance.
