UPDATE:

We're camping out on Friday and Saturday night at Meadows Lane about a mile north of the Loj. You drive in the direction of the Loj on Adirondack Loj road and about a mile before the Loj on the left side, there is a road called Meadows Lane. Drive on this dirt road for about a mile and at the end there are some nice free spots to camp out there at the end of the road.

Some people are staying Saturday night at the Adirondack Loj. If you want to stay on Saturday night at the Loj please make a reservation by calling the Loj at [masked].

We're sharing tents. Please bring a tent if you have one and if you have space share it with someone who doesn't have a tent.

Checklist:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a 28 mile hike. You're responsible for bringing your own water, a map for the high peaks and water purification tablets. You will also need a headlamp. Thermal underwear. It will be long and hard.

I will only take people who have hiked before. No blue jeans hikers. No hikers with cotton. You MUST BE ABLE TO READ A TRAIL MAP. If you can't read a trail map you're not coming. Chances are you might get lost in the largest park in the lower 48th if you don't know how to read a trail map. I'm not responsible for you guys, you're responsible for yourselves. I just want you to join me in doing one of the most amazing hiking trips you will ever make.

I recommended hiking in pairs though with someone you know well. This way anything happens, there is someone there to help you in case anything happens. This way no one can complain that they got stuck with someone slow. Therefore pick a person you know can hike at your speed. I will take care of whomever I pair up with and so will you. They will be your responsibility and you theirs.

We will hit about 12 peaks in one day. We will start at 3am so that around our first peak we should see the sun rising. This hike will take anywhere between 12 hours to 18 hours.

This is the route we're following:

Johns Brook
Lower Wolfjaw
Upper Wolfjaw
Armstrong
Gothics
Saddleback
Basin
Haystack
Skylight
Colden (optional)
Cliff Mountain (optional)
Algonquin

If anyone feels adventurous and you feel you want to do a longer hike you can always hit Sawteeth for a 13th peak. But this is our basic route.

We will carpool up there on Friday morning. Go to sleep early and wake up at 2am so that we can be on the trail at 3am.

Please again RSVP only if you're an experienced hiker. If you don't own thermal underwear, hiking boots or know how to read a trail map and find your way out of the park then you're not an experienced hiker.

oh TG probably wouldn't finish half of the same trail you did. That's why he talks so much. Don't buy him a beer.

i'd personally like to see u do it in a pink tutu while wearing a giant "We're #1" foam finger, a red clown nose & cowboy hat. THEN, TG, i'll buy u one drink for every single mile. Definitely. heeheehee...

Fransisco, why would you want to see ME doing the exact trail that is only 17 miles and 4 peaks but named "28 mile, 12 peaks hike"?

hey, I want to see you TG do it yourself and then perhaps Joy will buy you those drinks if you manage to do more than 17 miles and 4 peaks on the same exact trail.

Jooy, you owe me 8 drinks. I told you that its going to be 14 miles instead of 28 miles and you did 17 mile. So, its 28-17=11(short) but 4 miles over my prediction of 14 miles. When are you buying???

WOOHOOO! I'm so psyched people. I have a super idea. I think the three hikers who finished first should buy the slower ones a round of drinks and we should celebrate after the hike. Meet at the loj and party. . .

I don't know. Last year I was there around this time and they were flies but not that many. They usually hang out in the swampy areas and we're not doing the swampy areas so black fly population out in the high peaks is minimal from my experience. I could be wrong and this year could be different but so far I haven't seen to many of them in June.

    •  Big, big congrats to all who finished the amended route! I'm so proud of u guys... I had a grand time even tho' my knee punked out. Rux & I still did about 17 miles of wet rocks, goopy mud & slimy boulders, not too shabby I suppose! A thrilling wkend of fantastic, tough hiking w/ spirited folks. So cool... Thanks Francisco; thanks for the ride, Wes!
    •  Face uncertainties with courage. I've been honing this skill lately and it's working. There was a part of the hike that was so scary that I don't know what I should do. I tried something that I had never tried before and that was trying to land on my feet from a distance that I am not remotely comfortable with. I tried it and it worked. Hooray! It was one of my most challenging hike. Gothic and Saddleback were gruesome! Thank you, Francisco! Thanks for driving, Dave.
    •  Thanks everyone for coming. It was a pleasure hiking with you guys. Congrats to the huge effort that everyone did! I know how hard it was to go from pick to pick and to have to rock climb some of those mountains down. Good job!!! Maybe next time, we'll do it in reserve.
